| Dunboyne 2 | Ditches with medieval pottery | Possible field system or settlement activity | Medieval |
Archaeological excavation at Dunboyne 2 was undertaken by ACS Ltd in August 2005 and is now complete. Post-excavation analysis is ongoing.
Excavation revealed a prehistoric settlement, possibly Bronze Age, surviving as a circular arrangement of pits. The pits were severely truncated by medieval agricultural practices represented by an L-shaped field drain containing animal bone and medieval pottery. Finds include prehistoric flint or chert tools and waste flakes, prehistoric pottery, medieval pottery and an iron arrowhead. Other features on site included a number of kilns and furnaces that could not be dated through association alone.
