Preliminary Excavation Results

A prehistoric circular structure (15m diameter) formed by a slot trench, with internal postholes, situated in a shallow, natural bowl or depression at the base of a small hill. Two semi-circular ditches were dug into the hill to the north, east and south of the structure, probable drains positioned to channel water away. Numerous pits and postholes were located outside the structure. Finds included a flint arrowhead, a prehistoric pottery sherd and a bronze ring.
